Contains excellent color photographs of common and not so common skin conditions encountered in primary care. An essential reference for the emergency department and the office. Well organized into sections and sub-sections. Patients appreciate seeing their rashes in the book and knowing that others have had the same malady.

Trevor Harley completed his undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge. He moved to the University of Dundee in 1996 from the University of Warwick. He holds a Personal Chair in Cognitive Psychology and is currently Head of the School of Psychology. He is a Chartered Psychologist and his main research interest is in normal and pathological speech production.

Linguistic junkies...

I had to order this "text book" for my Psycholinguistics course. I never read my textbooks, like most college students, but this one I did. It's language development and linguistic theory for dummies. It's so readable. I highly recommend reading this first, before diving into something heavier, like Chomsky.

Joseph Ben-David died twenty-five years ago, in January 1986. An eminent sociologist of science, and a co-founder of this sub-discipline, he was only sixty-five years old. Few social scientists are remembered after they die and can no longer parlay their influence into the goods of this world for colleagues and acquaintances. This was not Ben-David’s fate. His work continues to be taught and referred to by scholars spread far and wide (in terms of both countries and disciplines). His students never forgot him, his books were republished, and his essays appeared in new collections.

Ben-David’s legacy includes ideas and ideals. Its central tenet is the autonomy of science, its right—and duty—to be value-free. Scholarship oriented to any goal other than the accumulation of objective knowledge about empirical reality, for him, was science no longer and did not have its authority. In this light, the life of scholarship was one of moral dedication, with nothing less than the fate of liberal democratic society depending on it. And for science to thrive, the university, its home, had to be the embodiment of the cardinal virtue of this society: the virtue of civility.

In the spirit of Ben-David, believing that scholarly debate advances common good, and rational discourse wins whichever way arguments in it are settled, this festschrift debates such core issues as the nature of science, its changing definition and position in Western society, the forms of organization optimal for scientific creativity, and the ability of the research university to foster scientific growth, while also performing its educational role.

About the Author

Carla E. M. Hollak is Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Amsterdam and the Academic Medical Center (AMC). She heads the adult inherited metabolic unit at AMC, including the centers of excellence for Gaucher and Fabry disease and a rapidly growing service for adults with inborn errors of metabolism. Hollak regularly serves as expert for regulatory agencies both at a national and international level. She is chair of the "Erfocentrum" board, treasurer of the European Study Group on Lysosomal Diseases, and involved in activities of the European Working Group on Gaucher Disease and the Adult Metabolic Group for the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism.

Robin Lachmann is Consultant in Metabolic Medicine at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, where he heads the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit. He is a member of the British Inherited Metabolic Disease Group and the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, serving as chair of the latter's adult group. He is Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Recordati Rare Diseases Foundation, organizing training and education in rare diseases; Chair of the Metabolic Disorders Clinical Reference Group, which advises NHS England on metabolic services; and an elected member of Council of the Royal College of Physicians, London.

This book was recommended on The Huff Post on a blog about horror fiction. Strangely, it is a horror book, but not in the usual sense. I enjoyed reading this book and it completely held my attention. I'm not sure I was totally satisfied with the ending, but maybe all good books leave you with questions at the end.

This book is really good for beginners in silverlight for windows phone. The author explains all the details about the process to build an aplication in a simple way .If you are not an experience programmer in Windows phone 7 you should read this book.

Great book to start programming in the new Windows Phone 7.

Clearly explained and very progressive in content and examples that will teach. And not only that they are well explained, they are very complete, and that goes from the basic components of an application to the use of Web services.

On the downside, and it is something you see much in the last books that are coming out, is that just touches XNA, just one chapter focuses on Silverligth. So if you want to make applications, this book is an excellent choice, but if you also want to enter the world of games, we should find something else.

Claramente explicado y muy progresivo en los contenidos y ejemplos que va ense�ando. Y ya no es solo que est�n bien explicado, adem�s son muy completos, ya que va desde los componentes b�sicos de una aplicaci�n, hasta el uso de servicios web.

En el lado negativo, y es algo que se ve mucho en los �ltimos libros que est�n saliendo, es que apenas toca XNA, apenas un cap�tulo y se centra en Silverligth. As� que si quieres hacer aplicaciones, este libro es una excelente elecci�n, pero si tambi�n quieres entrar en el mundo de los juegos, habr�a que buscar otra cosa.

Couldn't put it down!

Wow, I loved this story. This book is simply amazing. The way Brown so vividly described his characters I can close my eyes and literally see each scene as I read the pages. I almost felt like I knew each one of these ladies. He is such a colorful author. I can't wait to see what else he has to offer. Sounds like a seasoned writer to me. This book is highly recommended!!

Charles Brown is an exceptional writer who has captured the essence of the curiosity that a lot of woman go through, in his characters. Ulterior Motives is one of those books that you just can't put down and leaves you wanting more! I am anxiously waiting for the next book!

From the very beginning this book had my attention. The characters are well developed and had me reading for more. The author provides a realistic view of several different types of relationships and the difficulties that love, lust and curiosity bring to the table. I'm excited to read more from C.E. Brown.
