Excellent introduction, but partially dated.

Beware: this book was written and published circa 2011. While it isn't out of touch, it isn't in touch with the current technology and programs. Much of the technical info (a small portion of the text) is now old, since the programs and computers have evolved so fast. It almost seems written in 2011 by a person still relating to experiences from 2005.

Aside from that, this book has a lot of very useful information on how to set up inexpensive recording studios, how to approach projects, how to sculpt sound for a professional outcome. This primer on the nuts-n-bolts of music/sound production is what every beginner should be familiar with. If you are moderately experience, or you've studied recording thoroughly, you will probably be bored by the basic information in this book.

Good For Those Needing Some Direction to Get Started

This is a good book with a lot of info primarily for those looking for where to get started. Also, its a little out of date, due to changing technology in this area. It did help me decide to continue working with DAW (PC based setup), as opposed to moving to a Tascam or Zoom multi-channel digital recorder, and also provided helpful information on equalizer settings for various input sources. Information on usb interfaces vs the use of sound cards is good, as well, although again a bit outdated.

Kindle book provides details for novice or person who is re-entering sound recording. There's some great basic information and it is written unbiased. It covers analog and digital recording. This is very helpful for setting up your own recording studio in your home. I highly recommend.

The EFCA believes that our essential theological convictions are vitally connected to this gospel, the evangel, as that gospel message has come to us through the biblical and historic stream of Evangelical Christianity. As an exposition of Evangelical convictions this book will be useful both in the EFCA and in the broader Evangelical world.

This theological exposition speaks clearly but, as much as possible, without technical theological terms so that it can be profitable for all believers who need to be grounded in the essentials of the faith. Moreover, the theology set forth in this exposition is doxological-that is, it ought to lead us to exalt the greatness and grace of our God. As Paul instructs Timothy, "What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you-guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us" (2 Tim. 1:13-14). Evangelical Convictions was written with the prayer that it may be an instrument of the Spirit to help those in the EFCA, and faithful believers everywhere, to guard, and to bear witness to, the good deposit of the gospel.

Evangelical Convictions

If we call ourselves Evangelicals, what do we mean by that? What do we believe, and, more importantly, why? Written as a "fleshing out" of the doctrines of the Evangelical Free Church (and published and marketed by the EFCA), Evangelical Convictions is both a Gospel primer and a textbook for understanding the essentials. It's laid out in a textbook format, so it's easy to use as a reference. But it's written in clear, clean and compelling language, so it's also a good read.
I think it would be a great idea for every Evangelical Free Church to get this book into the hands of its members and attenders, but it's highly recommended for anyone who would like to know more about the "glorious gospel of the blessed God." (1 Tim 1:11)

"A [Thorough] Theological Exposition of the Statement of Faith of the Evangelical Free Church of America"

Contained within this book is a well-researched, well-defined, and well-versed explanation of the theological doctrine behind the statement of faith of the EFCA. If one were to study this academically, it will prove to be an invaluable resource to have as the building blocks to any piece of work by an evangelical believer. Not only does it serve as an academic resource, but it can also be used by anyone who desires to get a strong and comprehensive understanding of the faith and beliefs of evangelicals, specifically the EFCA. I would recommend this to anyone who desires to gain a stronger grasp of the ecclesial roles of the church, the power works and glory of the triune God, and to learn where we as God's creation fit into the picture.

Evangelical Convictions is dense...like a pound cake.

The book is a very dense systematic treatment of 10 major Christian doctrines. It is full of scripture references, theological reflection of each phrase in the statement, explanations of historical theology and the development of Free Church teaching, the drawing of clear boundary lines (affirmations and denials), and much more (including a very helpful appended explanation of how congregationalism functions in the EFCA--great to see that in print). It is the first place I will go to show anyone what we believe.

And it's written in a winsome, humble, warm and yet courageous prose.

It won't be easy for everyone to read. Evangelical Convictions is not full of folksy stories and anecdotes (though there are good illustrations made to explain various points). It is dense, but like a pound cake--thick, rich, and theologically sweet.

Evangelical Convictions is encouraging to me, not just because I agree with everything in it (even the various "balances" struck throughout seem judicious and well put). But also because it points to some theological health in the EFCA.

When the leaders of the EFCA engaged our whole family of churches in a process of revising our statement of faith, I was ultimately encouraged. There were some rocky spots in the process, of course, but the leaders handled the whole thing with strong integrity, humility and courageousness.

I was really pleased to be a part of a family of churches that (among other things) valued doctrine enough to spend a lot of time on it, to improve what was already good, to include as many as could be included without compromising the gospel, and to move from theology to doxology.

Now, there is a book that captures it all.

I chewed on wonderful resource for over a month, reading it in snatches.

That's just the way to enjoy a theological pound cake.

FANTASTIC READ BY TYMBER DALTON. HER BEST BOOK EVER! EXPLICIT SEX. DON'T LEAVE BAD REVIEWS W/O CONSIDERING YOUR PURCHASE FIRST!

Tymber Dalton is, without question, one of the very best and most knowledgeable authors of BDSM fiction currently being published. The Reluctant Dom is the fourth book in the Suncoast Society series. But just in case you haven't read the previous three books in the series, don't worry! Each of the books in the series is a standalone novel, although you will understand the backstories of all the characters involved in each book better if you do read them in order. To that end, there's a complete listing of the entire series, in order, at the beginning of each of the Suncoast Society books. This book, in particular, is absolutely wonderful. Having read all of Ms. Dalton's books, I have to say this is my absolute favorite. This is Kaden's, Seth's, and Leah's story, and to demonstrate just how much I love it, I've read it at least a dozen times! Be prepared to have at least one box of tissues handy as you read this book. You're definitely going to need it!

Kaden and Seth have known each other for over 40 years. They're not only best friends; they're more like brothers. Seth has always felt slightly inferior to Kaden, who is brilliant, full of kindness, and has no problems navigating social situations. But none of that matters to Kaden. Seth is the one person who's always been there for him, and he loves him unconditionally. After high school, Kaden headed for college while Seth went into basic training in the Army. Before they parted ways, however, one night, after killing a bottle of tequila together, Kaden and Seth experienced an incredible one-time three-way with a very willing co-ed. Neither has forgotten that night but they've also never really talked about it since then either

Seth has returned home. He's been through three wives and a construction business that was successful for a while. He's not destitute but he's also not rich. Right now, after divorce #3, he's living with his brother, Ben, and going back to school to get nursing degree since he was a medic in the Army. But, overall, he's happy with his life. While Seth was in the Army, Kaden went on to finish college and law school. He's now an incredibly successful attorney with a beautiful wife, Leah. They have a beautiful home, actually built by Seth's company during his construction career, and they couldn't be happier. Or so it would appear.

When Kaden asks Seth to lunch one day, he drops a bombshell. He's dying of pancreatic cancer. Seth's not just in shock. He's traumatized. At first, he thinks it's one of Kaden's famous practical jokes. But he soon realizes that Kaden is very serious, and his friend has a year, maybe two, left before he's gone. Seth tries everything to deny it. Has Kaden gotten a second opinion? Yeah, this was the third opinion. Surely there's some sort of treatment, maybe an experimental one, that he can try. But Kaden refuses to do anything that will diminish the quality of life that he has remaining to him. There's literally nothing that can be done. Seth is devastated beyond belief.

The real problem comes when Kaden has to tell Leah. What no one but Kaden and Leah know is that Leah has a troubled and abusive past. They've been married for over 20 years and to all outward appearances, they are happy and have no problems. But, as in all situations, it's what's under the surface that no one else can see that really makes a difference. Kaden and Leah have secrets no one else can possibly guess. Kaden needs Seth's help, not only to break the news to Leah but to help her through the coming months, to get her through the illness, his death, and the aftermath. Seth is horrified. He doesn't see how he can make any difference. But Kaden is his brother. He'll do whatever he can to help both of his best friends.

What Seth soon learns is that both Kaden and Leah are kinky, a part of the local BDSM scene. They belong to, are actually founding members of, the local BDSM club, Venture. Seth knows absolutely nothing about kink or BDSM. When Kaden springs his other surprise on Seth, that he wants Seth to learn about BDSM from Kaden and Leah and become the third in their relationship, Seth is dumbfounded! Yes, he's always been attracted to, and more than a little in love with, Leah. One of his ex-wives was the spitting image of Leah. But to intrude on his best friends' marriage and become a part of it while Kaden is dying? It's unthinkable!

This is only the beginning of a story that takes you from the heights of laughter, passion, and the joy and discovery of new and exciting experiences never experienced by any of the triad to the very depths of pain, agony, grief, and anguish. As Seth, Kaden, and Leah travel this road of deepening love, friendship, and learning about every aspect of each other and their experiences, both good and bad, you're taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Believe me, that box of tissues will be an absolute necessity!

The characters in The Reluctant Dom are so true to life and well-developed that you'll feel as if you're actually living the story along with them. The emotions are overwhelming at so many times. I cried and cried in places. I also felt absolute joy and overwhelming happiness at other times as well. And the BDSM aspects of the book are spot on. But what makes the book so excellent isn't just the truthfulness and accuracy of the BDSM. It is the genuineness of the relationships in the book and the true emotions that are expressed. When you're reading The Reluctant Dom, you become immersed in the lives of the characters and their emotions, lives, relationships...every aspect of their lives. It is rare for an author to find the perfect balance between character development, relationship dynamics and accuracy in every detail but Tymber Dalton does it in every book I've read. She has done it perfectly in this book.

Ms. Dalton has an intimate knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle, having been involved in it herself for a number of years, and all the Suncoast Society (and some of her standalone books and other series) reflect that knowledge. She shows the infinite variety of the lifestyle. Many other authors show ignorance of the nuances and differences in various dynamics. Tymber Dalton reflects her total understanding of those nuances and the intricacies involved in each individual type dynamic. There is no one specific way of living in the BDSM lifestyle. Each relationship is as unique as the individuals involved in the relationship. Ms. Dalton not only understands this but lives it herself, and that's what makes her books so intriguing and true to life. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to read a really fantastic, well-written and emotionally involving romance. The BDSM scenes just add icing to the cake of a perfect story. Kudos to Tymber Dalton for an amazing read!

I realize this is a long review but I do have one final comment. This is an ADULT book. It contains adult BDSM themes, explicit language, and sexual scenes. If you do not enjoy erotic romance with explicit sexual and BDSM scenes then PLEASE carefully consider your purchase before buying any book in a genre you know you will not enjoy. There is always a synopsis of the book at the seller's website or on the dust jacket of the book. There are also reviews of the book available not only on Goodreads but at the booksellers' websites. PLEASE avail yourself of these resources so you are certain the book you are purchasing is what you want to read. ALSO, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW OF A BOOK YOU PURCHASED WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY IT AS IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! Ms. Dalton is an amazing author who works extremely hard to provide a quality work product, and if you know before you purchase a book that you will object to the subject matter contained therein, you are doing not only yourself, but the author, an extreme disservice. But if you do enjoy an extremely engaging and totally captivating romance with BDSM elements, I highly recommend The Reluctant Dom. Believe me, you will not be sorry you read it! I give it my highest rating without reservation!

Incredibly emotional

Kaden and Leah have been married 20 years. Leah is also his slave, because she needs the emotional release she gets from a d/s lifestyle without which she would resort to hurting herself. When Kaden learns he is dying he knows he needs to set Leah up with a new Master. He chooses his best friend Seth, knowing Leah has always loved both of them. The transformation the three of them go through is so sad, sweet, heart-breakingly painful. I don't think I've ever cried so much over a novel, especially a bdsm one!

Phenomenal!

I have literally read thousands of books and I can honestly say that this is one of the best love stories that I have ever read. Even if you don't care for or agree with best, I don't know how someone could dislike this book!
Tymber has created a piece of art where the reader no longer just reads the book but will feel as though they are part of the book. You are able to feel the characters love, pain, joy, sorrow and yes, their loss on a level not normally reached in a book.

Ok book but he rambles through topic to topic

The book is not bad but it's not that great either. Think of it as an idea book in which you see him mention something and then research it futher. The rambling just becomes too much as you move along to the point where it becomes annoying to read. The tone the author uses is very nonchalant and he doesn't really explain anything. Ideas are just thrown out.

For me, the beginning of the book was best because it lays out some important basics about money and wealth building.

If anything, it would be best to look through the book and read on specific topics of interest to you.

I'm already working on it!

I found this to be a fascinating and most helpful book. It was so motivating I'm already working on three new streams of income, and about to start a fourth. Forget net worth! Cash flow is much more important, particularly if you're retired. Only one slight criticism of the book. It's a bit dated, but those few parts make little difference to its overall value. If you're currently struggling with how you're going to survive after you retire, try Allen's approach. It will open your eyes.
