An assignment by the International News Service to write an eight-part series on s�ances resulted in her first book, A Search for Truth, and a friendship with noted medium Arthur Ford. After Ford's death, he and a group of otherworld entities began communicating with Montgomery via automatic writing. Many have ranked her powers of foresight with that of Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce. Montgomery (Here and Hereafter, etc.) made headlines years ago when she transformed herself from Washington political columnist into a contender for the title of the next Nostradamus. In her first book in 12 years, she revisits predictions she made over the course of 15 books and offers updated information about the "shift," or planetary reorganization (including a change in the Earth's axis), to come in the next decade. Montgomery gives an overview of the material covered in her previous work: the nature of the shift, reincarnation, aliens, "walk-ins" (individuals whose bodies have been taken over by enlightened beings) and the method by which she receives her visions from the "Guides" (spirits who are active in the human sphere, but whose vibrational energy is higher, making them invisible to human eyes). She then explains why she revoked her decision to stop publishing: the future has changed, and the Guides have reported a delay in the shift (it won't happen until 2010 or 2012), pending the arrival of a walk-in president (no, say the Guides, "it is not Ross Perot"). Montgomery reassures readers that the spirituality boom (and the good graces of reincarnated "survivors of the Hundred Years' War in Europe" who don't want to see us repeat their bloody ways) will lessen the devastation she had previously predicted would be wrought by the shift. But it will still be rough going (people and animals will perish by the millions). Montgomery intends this to be her final bookAbut if she's for real, the Guides will make that decision, not her. i love this book. it's a page turner. i could not put it down.

i love ruth montgomery's style. it is simple and easy to understand. i started reading her books when i was a teenager 35 years ago. they are as important and meaningful to me today as they were when i was 15. they are invaluable to me in my search for the truth. ruth has paved the way for my subsequent interest in - and aptitude for - edgar cayce, seth, paramahansa yogananda, carlos castaneda, ramtha, quantum physics and more.

the "world to come" predicts a shift in the earth's axis, a walk-in president to usher in the new age and the millennium of peace and harmony that follows. within this context ruth includes interesting information about many things: the beginning of humankind, life after death, reincarnation, spiritual guides, lemuria and atlantis, ufos, christ consciousness and more. the chapters that describe the life of jesus are particularly interesting.

i would not recommend this book to individuals looking for facts, or a specific roadmap to the past or future. i highly recommend this book to those seeking to glimpse our past and future. this book is not a scientific journal. it is a book that revels in possibilities, and for readers like myself passionately inspires.

In earlier books, Ruth Montgomery predicted, among other things, that the planet would shift on its axis before 2000, that the "walk-in President" would be elected in 2000, that the Anti-Christ would reveal himself and that major catastrophic calamities would cause major damage to the United States, primarily in California, Florida and New York.

Twelve years elapsed between the time of Ms. Montgomery's last book and this one. During this interim period, her husband and close friends passed away and ultimately joined her group of "Guides", who urged her to transcribe this final message of the delay of the impending shift and that there would be no WWIII. There will be less damage than earlier predicted and quicker recovery due, in large part, to the "walk-in President" and the rebirth of the "Lemurians" in this generation.

The primary message of the book is that mankind has the power to affect its future, though nothing can forestall the impending axis shift. Ms. Montgomery's Guides predict a sort of Golden Age for mankind following an abbreviated period of turmoil following the shift.

An interesting 1999 prophetic perspective when reviewed in context with her earlier books, those of Edgar Cayce, and the recent slew of History Channel "end of days" programming.

A Must Read

If you are serious about becoming your best, this book is for you. After reading it, I realized that I was not totally prepared before meetings or seminars I was delivering, and was equally unprepared in more simple tasks such as getting the kids out the door. As a result, my Two Lengths has become '100% READY.' This is a concept I teach my golfing students in my coaching program, but it is also the mindset I am adopting to nearly everything I do.

Simon Harltey is simply brilliant and this book exemplifies the simplicity and brilliance behind this extremely powerful message.

Cherri, please sing for me.

We return five years after the events in Summer Secret (Cherri Red #1). Dani Walker is leading a simple, luxurious life on the cliff-side of Dana Point with her camp buddy and now boyfriend, Jack. Jack has taken over his father's boating sales business and Dani is a leisure and famous photographer. However, everything isn't as crystal clear as it seems. Dani glances Cherri on the cover of a rock magazine and she pines over the loss of a deep relationship. Where is Cherri now and why hasn't she called?

Cherri Red is an upcoming debut artist in a country-rock band. Her first album is out and she has become an overnight celebrity. With tour stops all over the country and being a fan favorite, Cherri has a lot on her plate. In Summer Secret we left off with Cherri engaging in some unfavorable acts to try and make her way into the world with no support. However, the sequel does not divulge Cherri's secrets or just how far she went to breakthrough. Hopefully we will learn Cherri's story in the final installment of this trilogy.

The plot quickly progresses as Dani lands a corportate photography job and lands near a city where Cherri's tour stops. Despite her reservations, Dani heads off the the concert to spy on her long lost love. Cherri and Dani reunite and Dani is given a backstage pass (and not only to the concert). Letting go of her hurt and past betrayal does have its consequences as Dani's feelings have returned stronger than ever for Cherri.

The plot of this book also centers around the trial of Greg. Dani and Cherri are both called as witnesses to the event which took place at the end of book one. Here Dani and Cherri's trysts are put on public blast and each learn how to move forward now that their sexuality is public knowledge.

I enjoyed the character development in this book as Dani and Cherri are both dynamic characters and have matured since book one. Dani discovers a box hidden by her father and its contents lead Dani to stop feeling shame for her proclivities and the courage to pursue what SHE wants. Cherri has also grown from an attention-seeking, overly sexed young adult to an alluring and charismatic woman. She treats her fans well and shows great restraint when in the public eye.

I struggled with what to rate this book because I have enjoyed the adventures of both Dani and Cherri but compared to the first book this one just didn't deliver as I had hoped. The major problem for me was a lack of consistency. Some events from the last book are portrayed differently in the character's memories and I was confused a great deal at times. For example, a client of Dani's is called Crystal and then three pages later her name is suddenly Candy with no mention of a nickname. As a reader this was very frustrating.Overall, it was a good read and I will still pick up the final book to see if Dani and Cherri have a happily ever after.

A great sequel

Falling was a very entertaining continuation from the first Cherry Red book. The characters Dani and Cherry are so appealing and the people around them are realistic and interesting. I would be very happy to see another story out of this.

Molly needs her own voice and personality

Like others who have and will purchase this collection, I bought the volume specifically to find out what happened to Molly. In the short story written by Jim Butcher, Molly learns what is expected of her as the Winter Queen.

I really did not like this story. Molly has no voice of her own, her wit, her thought processes are all Harry Dresden. Who is mentioned over and over and over again, ad nauseum. Don't get me wrong, I like Harry. And I liked Molly when she wasn't such a Harry knock off. Butcher fails when it comes to female protagonists, particularly when describing sexual arousal. Hey Jim, women don't think about sex the same way men do. It's not a matter of how often they think about it or how big their libido is - it's DIFFERENT for us. Butcher portrays almost every trait Molly has as a mirror image of Harry. It's so distracting that the plot fizzled and died for me before I finished page 39 in the Kindle edition.

Tanya Hufff, Seanan McGuire, and Rob Thurman have work included in this compilation. They are solid writers (as is Butcher, usually) and their stories do not disappoint. I was less familar with the other writers included; for the most part, I am pleased with my introduction to these people and will look for more of their work.

I'd really like to rate this as 3.5 stars, but that isn't possible on Amazon. Overall, a decent grouping of short stories.

Overall this is a good anthology

Overall this is a good anthology. Review by story:

1. Cold Case. 5/5
It's a good story even if it does have some continuity snarls. It helps show some of the ways Molly has changed now that she is Winter Lady.

2. Sleepover. 6/5
This story is the surprise MVP for me. I have never read anything my Seanan Mcguire but after reading Sleepover i have ordered a few of her “InCryptid” books. Now to the actual story; it's very well paced with a whole lot of world building hooks which allow the story to seem like it actually inhabits a real setting. The characters are likable and the plot relies more on the characters then on flash or fighting.

3. If Wishes Were. 3/5
The story is a little bit cliche. The main character seems somewhat overpowered to me. i will admit the story did not interest me enough to research if it takes place in a larger setting where the character would be justified to be as powerful as it is. Other than that, the mains love interest is flat, the initial antagonist seems like just an excuse to start the plot. And finally, the main antagonist while being extremely powerful (for reasons, and in a way, that makes way more sense then the main character) it is still defeated without difficulty via deus ex machina.

4. Solus. 3/5
Simple description? Men in Black meets The Dresden Files. Only problem is, it feels like you're following around the B team from either setting. It's a bit wacky mixed with “Magic A is Magic A”.

5. Peacock in Hell. 4/5
This one is a weird one to go into without any prior knowledge. It's like someone took “Bartimaeus Sequence” series of books and gave it a pack of cigarettes to make it more “edgy”. Don't get me wrong it's done well, but it seems like it's trying a bit too hard to by grown up when it's not. Also, maybe placing this story right after the wacky story in the anthology might not have been the best place for it as far as tone is concerned.

6. Eye of newt. 1/5
Nope. I got through 4 pages of cringe and decided this story is not for me.

7. What dwells within 2/5
Who doesn't like a telepathic Ferret as a main character…. Me it turns out. I am guessing this story is part of a larger series but it does a really bad example of getting a new person involved with the setting.

8. Hunter healer 4/5
This story reads like a “day in the limelight” for a background NPC. It has good execution, and when read from the point of view that it's a minor character getting some development the story is good.

9. Baggage. 5/5
This one is good, even if it is ostensibly about superheroes. Sadly it is not part of a larger series instead the author has floated the characters/setting out on a few anthologies and is planning on trying to make it a comic if there is enough interest. It's a bit modern noir mixed with a thriller.

10. Sales. Force. 4/5
This story is good, but if it was a full book it would probably outstay its welcome. The main character is a monster, not in the literal sense but rather she is a psychopathic killer with little regard to normal human characterization. That kind of amoral killer that is sometimes fun to see in limited, Controlled, settings along the lines of “yes, but she’s OUR monster”. That being said there doesn't seem to be much in the terms of control or humanization here.

11. Impossible monsters 5/5
THIS is how you do an amoral psychopathic killer right. This is a monster aimed at other monsters. It also part of a larger series “cal leandros”. Overall it does a good enough job of explaining the character and world that it's understandable to a new reader. Additionally, it has enough character and world setting to really pull a new reader in.

Kind of dark, "urban fantasy". Good stuff.

I liked all of the stories. The one that I wasn't as engrossed with as the others was Kevin J. Anderson's zombie detective. Not that it was bad, but it is based more in humor than the other stories.

As always, I love a story about Dresden or his former apprentice Molly.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a story about Vicki Nelson by Tanya Huff. It has been a long time since I read the "Blood Ties" series or even watched the TV show based on the books but it was very easy and fun getting back into her story.

As for the other stories, all of them have me interested in looking into the other short stories and, hopefully, books that the authors have written.

I am glad I bought this book

Overall, I am glad I bought this book, but a lot of the "tips" for kids were merely smile emojis which is largely unhelpful, and aren't actually tips. Additionally, the information for disability Disney goers was a brief paragraph that directed you to look into it yourself. Other areas of the book had been updated, but still used confusing outdated terms, like the entire Disney Springs section (formerly Downtown Disney). I also did not find that the forms for establishing my before trip needs (i.e. financial planning) were very universally accessible, I honestly removed mine because it was not helping me. Would recommend for general use, not someone looking for specific information for first time kids trips (for rides or food recommendations) or disability information. I did really enjoy the end of each section having quotes from other Disney goers, the full color maps for each park (these are going to be super helpful), and the large pockets at the end of the book for your trip (these are genius). Pros and cons to this; Pros: is helpful for general information about the park, has a lot of maps, pockets, and is extremely user friendly; Cons: has literally no disability information, some of the updated stuff is not all that informative, has "kids tips" (teens too) that are rather lacking.

KINDLE REVIEW: Format Ruins This

I've bought quite a few editions of this over the years, but this is the first time that I went for the Kindle version. (Not going to WDW soon, just wanted to read their entries on the newer stuff). The info is, as always, top notch, but the Kindle format ruins this. Page layout that's appealing and eye catching on paper is jarring and awkward on the Kindle. Photos are too small and out of focus. Park maps are blurry and useless. When you try to increase the size of either of those, they get worse. It's hard to flip through to find the info you're looking for. And it's kind of funny that while they don't include the folder pages in the back, which makes sense, they leave in the in the instructions on how to use them. If you're going to WDW, get this book, use this book, it's a vacation saver. Just get the paper version, not the electronic one.

This book is great otherwise and the maps are so nice to take ...

I'm only giving 3 stars to a 5 star book as I just received it and want everyone to check on page 151 to see if their copy has a duplicate map from page 172 of Hollywood studios and not the Epcot map that should be there. I have contacted Amazon on this as I believe it is a publishing error. This book is great otherwise and the maps are so nice to take along as they have a glossy finish. Please look into this matter to see if it was just my copy or a publisher mistake.

About the Author

Alan R. Kemp is Professor and Chair of the sociology department at Pierce College, Ft. Steilacoom, Washington, where he teaches a course on death, dying, and bereavement. He holds master's degrees in social work and divinity. He earned his doctorate at the then amalgamated colleges of St. Stephen's and St. Andrew's in Edmonton, Alberta and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He has many years experience in teaching, ministry, and professional counseling. He is a licensed mental health professional. He was among the last American advisors serving on "Swift Boats" (PCFs) in Vietnam. He lives with his wife, Claudia, and a menagerie of "critters" at their cabin on property in rural western Washington state.

Great Text, Cover not as Pictured

Great text. Easy to read and understand. Very useful information for anyone dealing with someone who is dying. Focuses on all aspects, including family and friends of dying loved ones. *The cover does not look like the picture, if you are looking for the text that has a grayish color with a lady in a white dress wearing a sunhat and carrying a suitcase, this is it.*

Grade 4-8-Crocker has created a realistic fantasy world, set in the swampland of Florida and populated with the animals that reside there. This timeless tale of an unexpected hero is narrated in a traditional folklore style by a mole who tells "every bit, just as it was. The rest I made up, as best I could." Ossie is the runt of his swamp rat litter. When his parents and siblings are devoured by an evil rattlesnake, he escapes, and is surprised to find himself cared for by Uncle Will, a huge and ancient alligator. Will teaches him how to survive and trust himself, even imparting thousands of years' worth of history available only through alligator memory in his dreams. From Will, Ossie learns about the Indians, runaway slaves, and the poachers who have inhabited the area. As the young rat gains self-confidence, he befriends turtles, birds, possums, armadillos, and especially a beautiful young swamp rat, Emma. As the seasons pass, the drought that is overtaking the swamp grows serious, eventually forcing a migration that puts Ossie in a position to save them all. There are memorable characters here-good, evil, and very human-like Preacher, a kind heron, and Bubba, a mean-spirited stork. Simple ink drawings embellish the beginning of each chapter. With Southern flavor, adventure, and environmental drama, Ossie's tale of finding his own way in the world will hit close to home for many.

Saved by the wise alligator Uncle Will, Ossie grows up with a ragtag bunch of friends, including a timid mouse and a slow-talking gopher. But trouble comes to the swamp in the form of drought, and just as it seems Ossie has found a home and a girl--the delightful rat, Emma--a rabble-rousing ibis, the Prophet Bubba, claims that Ossie caused the drought. Ossie is abandoned all over again and must win the swamp community's trust back. All the characters are well drawn, and the romance between Emma and Ossie is surprisingly sweet. But the swamp itself is the star of this story, and Crocker evokes its complex ecology with clever phrasing and a laid-back southern storytelling style. The plot elements may be familiar, but the writing is uncommonly evocative, and this is the kind of folkloric fiction that kids can treasure. John Green

Storytelling at its best

I first encountered "The Tale of The Swamp Rat" as a galley at an industry tradeshow, before the book itself was actually released. I read through the first couple of pages, and was hooked immediately by Carter Crocker's natural narrative style. Since then, I've read the entire book and relished every sentence. I often use this book as a teaching aid, to help my creative writing students understand just what "style" can mean to a story. Of course, it's the style and great characterizations of the swamp creatures that make this book so good. Some of my creative writing kids have complained that the story is a little slow; this is definitely a book for readers who love words and understand how magical they can be when woven together in just the right way.

I read Tale of the Swamp Rat. I liked the book because I like fiction books. I also liked the story because they went on a big adventure and reached where they wanted to go. I like it when animals talk.

I didn't like the book because Ossie's (the swamp rat) brothers, sisters, and Mom and Dad died so quickly. They died because of a rattle snake.

I think you should buy this book because it's exciting and you don't know what is going to happen next. Will R. age 9
